Toddling Up The Worcestershire Beacon | Authentic Family Photography

These 3 are a fine example of a life-loving Malvern family. We met at the top of Worcestershire Beacon for our photography session. I had slightly underestimated the speed to which a 2 year old can toddle when encouraged (& occasionally picked up & run) by her ultra running Mum and weight lifting Dad.

What worked really well…

It was an activity really familiar to them. The normality made it feel so much more authentic and natural to photograph. In fact joining them half way through aswell made it feel uncringe and less contrived or staged. M woke up with a runny nose (Typical 2’s problem), the clouds were hiding the hills but our perfectly imperfect approach paid off, when the mist created an epic backdrop and the runny nose added to the natural beauty of a progressively ferrel toddler, slightly muddy, wind swept, damp but really happy and good fun.

M loved the camera and we were good friends by the end of the walk, I even got a cuddle.

TIP Dressing warm for a winter shoot…

They all looked epic in some well chosen warm and practical clothes. My learning is to wear waterproof trousers to avoid my own muddy bum.
